SCORM. xAPI. cmi5. So many learning standards choices, and, for many, so much dread around choosing. In the e-learning standards world, SCORM is king, but it is limited in terms of what data it tracks, requires an LMS or a system to play it, and only operates within a browser context. xAPI can track anything and works with newer technologies, but without cmi5, it doesn’t include instructions for launching with an LMS and isn’t as widely adopted. A great meet-in-the-middle option is cmi5, but adoption rates are still low. This session will help you decide which option is the best for your content, and what standards you should consider when procuring new systems and platforms.
