Gamification is often used in the L&D space to drive engagement. But as L&D professionals, we can do so much more. In this session, the speaker will go beyond gamification and discuss how to design full learning games in the spirit of today's favorite board games—like Catan, Dominion, and Wingspan. You’ll be introduced to a taxonomy that classifies board games into broad categories. We will also play-test common game mechanics and evaluate how to apply the most appropriate mechanic to your challenge. Additionally, we will dissect sample learning games to identify what makes them effective. You’ll leave with a framework for designing, play-testing, and deploying your own learning games.
