Have you ever wanted to collect better training and performance data but felt limited by SCORM and smile sheets? There’s another option: xAPI. Unfortunately, learning about xAPI can be intimidating for many learning experience designers, and finding someone to demonstrate a simplified process for collecting this data step-by-step isn’t easy. This session will demystify xAPI by taking you through the process in just over an hour! You will set up a database called a learning record store (LRS), program content to send xAPI data to that LRS, and then explore the data using data visualizations. You will leave this session understanding how xAPI works and receive resources to continue applying xAPI to your work. To participate in this session, you must have: an internet-enabled laptop, the ability to download sample project files, the ability to create a free LRS account during the session, and an HTML editor (you can download Sublime Text for free at sublimetext.com). Access to Articulate 360 Storyline and Rise is helpful but not required.
Learning Objectives:
Practice setting up your own LRS.
Discover how to manually program custom xAPI statements in HTML-based content.
